Hi, I have cancelled my fibre internet with telkom.
I will be switching to another service provider.
Fibre line is openserve.
Telkom said it will take 30days for them to release the line once cancelled (something to that affect) before the new ISP can take over.
In essence she said we wont be able to have internet for these 30days. And should get a LTE modem.

Is this true? seems like a load of horse shiett

Hi.

They should be able to release the line immediately, unless that is part of their cancellation policy.
Your new ISP can place a "provide order" for you, which will allocate a new Bnumber and have it activated on LAN port 2 of the ONT.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Our 2 yr contract finished April so cant understand why they say 30 day release, unless its a retention techinque so people dont port over.
Anyhow our service ends July 14 with them. We were actually looking to sign up with Afrihost - I see you are a representative :)

Maybe miscommunication around 30 days notice, not 30 days to release the line?

Yup, thinking the same. My ISP has a calendar month notice so no matter when in the month I cancel, it will cancel at the end of the following month.
