The darker it is the less likely a smash and grabist will be interested as they can't see, however you do run the risk of looking like an absolute twat...

So tint makes you a twat? I think my light silver car with 35% smash & grab looks beautiful AND it keeps the car cool. Starts looking **** when they get custom rims and bodykits.
And I don't like the idea of everyone seeing inside my car.

Lol, nah. I'm quite grounded tyvm. But another point to mention for the op...it makes driving in the city at night kinda annoying

Get the 35%, a huge help with keeping the car cool and preventing smash and grab.
50% is better if you drive a small car (like an i10), the darker tint looks a bit dumb on them. But for an A4, 35% all the way.

If I could go back in time I would have done the same, I have 35% all round. The darker tint would have been nice in the back, good for blocking out harsh sunlight on long trips.

My wife has 35%, it's dark enough.

35% is the darkest you can go legally. 50% is a lighter tint

I always tell people to go with 35% all round - looks great on a white car (brilliant on an orange Subaru XV.. )

On the topic of window tinting- can anyone recommend a reputable, but reasonable, place that I can take my vehicle to get smash and grab tint installed? Preferably around the Randburg / Roodepoort area...
