Seeing that everybody on the 192 package is currently capped to 20KB/s and soon to be upgraded to 384, was wondering what kinds of speeds 384 users are currently experiencing. Anybody on 384 willing to post their current speeds?

Thanks

Three speed tests for the average effect.:D was getting 420 kbs/s a while back.

Hope this helps!

On a single connection I used to get 40KB/sec (before upgrading from 384K to 1024K). If you download using flashget or similar with 10 connections, you get around 50K/sec.

What will the effect be on the DSL network with the upgrade to 384?
Will the IS network be able to handle this upgrade?

I agree, more sources gives you a boost in transfer rates, even sometimes above what you are "paying" for.

I get a steady 35-39k using Reget with 6 connections on Easynews via IS while also doing a bit of browsing.

i disagree. Telkom have now limited everyone to the speed they pay for. no one on 192k gets 35KB/sec any longer and no one on 384k gets 52KB/sec any longer.

In the good old days before all the different packages came out, my modem was sinked at 6mbps. Nice to know what we all should be capable of. :)

IS can hardly handle the congestion as it is. I'll be quite scared to see the state of their network come 192 -> 384 upgrades :(

well you should get approx 80 - 90% of line speed. You can't speed it up by breaking the download into smaller parts since all that means is you leech less off a server/connection to the server(if they the web/host server have restrictions) but the limit to your premises is different as it is a throughput limit which is independant of number connections made. ie it will always add up the same unless the server you downloading from has a worse limit. A few months back the reason was the exchange equip gave people about 80kbps bonus for some reason.

When I got my 384 I was getting 80+kb/s, that gradually dropped and dropped to where I am only getting 40kb/s.
