Hi, what would happen if i tried to sync an 384k uncapped account to a 4MB line... I know this doesn't make sense to do... but i was just wondering if the line router would sync and you would get access??

in other words where u are getting around 460kb now u will then only get around 40kb maybe 45kb

I suppose it would make sense if you wanted "quality" bandwidth for your main browsing, but then don't mind switching to uncapped 384kbps just to pull downloads overnight, or from another computer using a separate PPPoE account on the same line.

I've currently got a 512 data account and had a 512 Telkom line - just upgraded the Telkom line to 4096 and the router syncs at 512 (although it tops out occasionally at 700-odd), so it will throttle according to the data package you have - getting my 4096 data activated tomorrow!

Technical intricacies aside, i was considering doing this (upgrading from 384k to 4mbps and then getting 384k uncapped) but I think I would just get frustrated with the uncapped account being so slow relative to the line speed.

i see some of these 384 uncapped accounts have have an upstream of 192kb, so to take advantage of that you'll need a faster line because the 384kb profile has an upstream of 128kb

If you have a 4meg line, and 384 uncapped, and subscribe to rapid share, then you download as if you were on 4meg uncapped. Seems to overlook the 384 limiting!
