3cx gateway and current samsung pabx

I have a samsung pabx with two incoming lines and 5 phones connected. I want to connect a 3cx gateway to my current pabx. I want to keep my analog lines and pabx. I want to make and receive voip and analog calls on my current telephones that is connected to the old pabx.

Has anyone done this before? I just want to know if it can be done and some advice on how it will work please.

Firstly what PBX make and model do you have.

What you are describing could be done via 2 methods :

1.) Probably the best method, is you install your 3CX with gateway cards inbetween your current PBX and Telkom lines, so the 3CX basically receives all calls and makes a routing decision for the call to either send it to VOIP or onto the PBX, and likewise all outbound calls from the PBX go to the 3CX and hence are routed to VOIP or Telkom.

2.) Implement the 3CX behind the PBX connected to the extention ports, this will require PBX programming as you will need to get the PBX to make the routing decision.

I've never used 3CX so I don't know what its capabilities are, but in Asterisk this is easy to accomplish.

Ok, lets give this a bash ! I understand the 3cx and Samsung, just let me know if it is an OfficServ 7030 as this will open another option as it will run the VoIP internally. If its an old Samsung, no bother, here is the way you achieve what i believe you are looking for. Get yourself a 4 port FXS gateway, chuck out your Telkom lines and port the numbers to a VoIP provider, connect your CO ports of the Samsung to the FXS ports of the gateway and load the VoIP account details into the gateway. Once the gateway is connected to the net, calls on your old Telkom numbers will ring wherever they did before and if you make an outbound call it will route over the VoIP account. So you save on Telkom line rentals and have cheap calls per/second billing ect.
