Hi Guys

Anyone here using 3cx pabx soft', if so, what is your experience been like and also what FXO gateway are you using?

Regards

.

You should probably look at the Quintum AFG series: http://www.quintum.com/enterprise/en_productdetail.html?id=32

These units are expensive. The cheaper and much easier option is to port your existing Telkom number to Switch Telecom and take a VoIP trunk service. That way you can work on a pure VoIP solution saving many thousands of rands of initial outlay on a gateway and saving a fortune in monthly line rental and call charges. With number portability, you can keep your existing phone number. www.switchtel.co.za. The porting is R150 once-off per phone number. The trunk would be R100 per month for a 4-line trunk or pro-rata for more than 4 lines.

Crass, we use the 3CX pbx for all our PBX installations...its the easiest way to install if you not into Linux...good ,solid value!!
as for voip providers...easy to add...as are gateways !...the forums are useful if you need any help and the guys a generally online for support during business hours.

3CX must be the easiest IP-PBX on the planet. :-)
The Grandstream FXS gateway works well with 3CX

We use an Elastix host for the VoIP phones which works quite well with mass deployment and auto-provisioning, with the exception of Snom handsets which use a TFTP server and a lot of other stuff to get them going with decent custom settings.

There is nothing wrong with 3cx if you cant handle an Asterisk install, Version 10 has just been released and im busy testing it now. 3cx is real easy to configure but with regards to the FXO i have to agree with GMZA, go SIP, it will save you money ! It has been sugested here that you use a Grandstream gateway, they are one off the cheapest out there but i have had issues in the past, in saying that i have not tested the latest firmware and i believe that these issues have been resolved.

1st choice , go VoIP and forget the gateway

The OP was asking about FXO gateways so obviously wants to wack some Telkom on the 3cx. FXS gateway is the reverse animal, to enable SIP on via analouge CO's, so it cant work on 3cx. That is the one i had the problem with, it would loose SIP registration to the host domain and you had to reboot to come right. I tried on more than one SIP account and same thing.
But as i said, this was old firmware. I spoke to the Grandstream guys at the IP convergence conference this year and they said they are selling a lot of these things with no issues, so hopefully all is well.
