Hi

I saw Pinnacle micro released the new samsung monitors on their pricelist this month.
I have a 5850 graphics card and either get the 27" normal screen or the 24" 3d one.
Now some forums says the card does not support 3d but on

http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-hd3d/Pages/supported-hardware.aspx

it claims it is possible. All the other forums are like last year and maybe things have changed with drivers.

No money to go for another graphics card now. I would use it for movies and i have 2 games with 3d support atm.

Also with samsungs 2d to 3d conversion the graphics card can be ruled out?

Im too confused bout all this. Will still need to phone pinnacle to hear if they have stock. Any other suppliers have the monitors yet?

Thnx

I would also like to know more about the requirements for playing 3d content (3d BluRay discs or 3d .mkvs) from a pc to a 3d tv/monitor). I currently have a samsung 40c7000, its a beautiful tv but don't even bother with the 2d->3d conversion. It makes hardly any difference.

My current understanding is that you need HDMI 1.4a compliant everything in order for 3d to work.

from the specs page of your graphics card: http://www.amd.com/us/products/desk...5850/Pages/ati-radeon-hd-5850-overview.aspx#2 , I would say that it will not work due to "Integrated HDMI 1.3 output with Deep Color, xvYCC wide gamut support and high bit-rate audio".

i have thought about geting a nvidia card and it might be posible if i sell my old one and getting 1 with same or better specs. anyway pinicle says eta is 1 july. awesome!

4xxx+ series cards can handle 3D gaming and 3D video playback just fine (any card with a DVI connector really). You need a monitor that can do 3D and 3D drivers. 3D for ATI cards is done through third parties, not through ATI themselves:

iZ3D

Edit:

DDD as well

so if 3d is posible on dvi then that wud b awesome. i love the link to DDD as third party unfortuantely.bt looks promising. does anyone have 3d monitors on their pc yet?

Congratulations, your graphics hardware is compatible with AMD HD3D technology! Please note that you also need to have an AMD HD3D compatible 3D display or projector

Horay!

Edit: awhh but I have a Samsung P2450H... no 3D tech there to my knowledge...anyone?

the p2450h is definitely not a 3d monitor.

I have a regular LG 23" LED PC monitor and a nVidia 410. Shockingly odd. The New nVidia drivers for that crummy card however supports a range of 3D options. The first was Stereoscopic which converts your game into the typical Red/Blue screen, while still maintaining color unlike the old Dinosaurs magazines from the 90's. I played [Prototype] and FarCry2 with $0.99 3D goggles from Ebay which worked okay, albeit stoneage technology. The other option is getting NVidia's own 3D solution which connects via USB and wirelessly to 3D glasses. For this however you will need a screen with 2x DVI/HDMI inputs, but the results are amazing!

Whether you use a ATi (They suggest their 6000 range for Blu-Ray playback) or nVidia, you need to have additional software.
nVidia give you the option to either use their nVidia vision kit (glasses and receiver) or some software. I will google the name again. Basically the software means you can use screen manufacture glasses whereas the kit would use the supplied glasses.

ATi only works through middleware (aka software :) ) mentioned above. I must say, I a little dis-illusioned with ATi over 3D and as a result am probably going to buy a nVidia gfx card when I get my Sammy 46D7000.

I have tried my damndest to find out the limitations on 2D-3D conversion and came to the conclusion that it might work. It supposedly works off any HDMI input... the problem comes in when you visit ATi/Nivid's websites. There they stipulate that unless you use their software, watching clips in 3D (youtube etc), viewing 3D pics and playing games in 3D will not work....

Sorry I cannot offer more clarity... this is after a lot of research into TV's and the workings on a PC.

thanks for the replies. i have searched for a few hours and could get no definite answer, hence i came here to try my luck. seems most ppl dnt know much about 3d yet as its stil new and expensive. wil try and find out more info as i stil have a few weeks before pinacle gets stock.
