Good day I have been tempted to buy a 3d printer, I done some of my own research and it seems like the Bambu lab P1s and AMS is a game changer. I would like a 3d printer for home use and to learn more about this important tech development which may spawn into a side hustle for me. Would like to hear the thoughts of those who have embarked on this journey. Would also like info on where would be best to buy it from. I noticed there is a big price discrepancy between prices in SA and the US.

It depends vastly on your interest and budget. On the higher end you can look at the following:

If you want to build it yourself and enjoy that sort of thing a Voron, RatRig, VzBot are good choices.

If you are looking for something more consumer focused the Bambulab and crealty k1/k2 are the most recommended

After import & shipping etc. you're not really saving much, if anything. Also good luck shipping it back abroad if there's an issue. Just get local imo.

But yes - if you want a printer that just works Bambu printers are great.

You and 20 000 other people all have the same pipe dream

You probably can't go wrong with a Creality Ender 3 KE or a Bambu A1 mini. You could get them from various local vendors such as Buildvolume 3D Printing Store, even Takealot if you were so inclined.

If you intend to do this only for "the side hustle" then you may be disappointed as the market is quite saturated. Rather do it for personal enjoyment / acquiring a new skill / creative or technical pursuits.
