Man, I need a new CPU. :(

My E6400 @ 3.4Ghz along with my 8800GTX only gets 12182 points in 3DM06.

Jesus dude, I don't understand why some people aren't happy with their setups! I'm happy with my little 1mb cache E2180 at 3GHz, although I could do with like a 8800GT..

I mean hellooo, ur pc rooocks!!?!!

Allot of people would go crazy over a PC like that. You get double what this other "gamer" guy I know upgraded too and he's going nuts over his PC.

Guys some information from you please??
Look I am sticking with the q9300 and the ATI 3870x2.

What board and ram would you recommend?
Should I stick with the 2 gigs ddr3?
Should I go back to ddr2 and have 4 gigs?
I am looking at the XFX 780i or if ddr3 the 980i board.
Thanks guys, the guys I bought from are champions, they are more than happy to change it for me.

Thanks for the help.
Edit: I have just got 15000 on 3DMARK06 but overclocked to 2.9 on the CPU.
I mean how could I get to 17000 or maybe 20000 on this rig? Should I be seeing this at all?
Thanks guys and thanks to ShockG and Killa, great help as always.

Yep the rig you have is fine.
If you feel you really want to change go for an X48 board (very expensive but no point swapping to another X38) if not you'll have to wait for P45 boards which are not available as yet but will be shortly.

Stick with your DDR3 you've already made the purchase don't go back to DDr2 because next gen CPUs from Intel are DDR3 only. if you go back to DDR2, you'll have to chuck motherboard ram and cpu where as if you have ram already its only new cpu and motherboard.

But honestly stick with what you have. You 3DMark06 score is fine the higher your CPU clock the more it'll increase. You systems is running more than fine :)

Shock, thanks. I really appreciate your valuable input. I am new to overclocking so dont really know much about it. I just thought maybe I should have gone back to ddr2 and run away from intel but .....
I also do not know what people are saying about o/c intel boards. This board can be o/clocked as far as you want.
Thanks again.
