3DS Max: help needed from pro

Hey all.

Anybody here that is very good with 3DS Max, I need help with a face model, namely hair, i have set everything up with the hair and fur modifier but converting it to mesh make everything slow and unusable.

I want to make this face model for Unreal Tournament 3 but i'm no good at hair...
