Hi guys. Just out of curiosity. If you have 3G and 2G coverage at your house, and 3G has got the strongest signal. Which one would use less battery...3G or 2G if you keep your phone on either 2G Only or 3G only mode?

Is this even possible?

I don't know, but I definitely got better battery life by switching my phone to 2G only in areas with poor 3G coverage.

Your battery life gets seriously challenged when your at the cell edge.

Well, 3G has got the best signal. Surely if you put the phone in 3G only mode then if 3G is the strongest signal then the phone wont work so hard to look for a better signal and to transmit for calls and data?

Answer is still dependent on the distance to the tower. This is the ultimate deciding factor.

* Cell edge can decrease with an increase in the number of users.
