Depends partly on your modem. If it's a Huawei, you can download the Huawei Mobile Partner software for free (sorry, don't have a link, Google it) which works for all Huawei dongles and is clean and easy. You can actually put it on the dongle itself rather than the original (Vodafone?) software.
I gather many MTN users are able to use gingg's excelled MDMA (see the thread at the top of the Vodacom forum here), though as I am discovering at the moment trying to use it with a Vodacom-installed ZTE dongle with an MTN sim, you could end up blocked with error messages or in a redial loop.
