Is anybody using 3G to browse the net and if so can you list the phone you are using?

I am using my HTC TyTN (HSDPA) via Bluetooth PAN to connect to Vodacom's VPN APN and get around 50KB/s on a 74% connection.

I am actually connected now, downloading Google Earth in the Background to use up all of my remaining bundle

Nokia E61, bluetooth. It's so easy to set up and it works like a charm.

PM me if you want howto.

I think any phone that supports bluetooth tethering can do it.

I assume Windows mobile is more complicated than plain old Nokia or other brands. What phone do you have?

Nope ... I had to download special scripts for my Nokia 6680, and fiddle inside there ... My WM device uses PAN, so I pair the two devices, tell the phone to dial, and click on "Join network on WM device" :D

QED

pretty much any phone will work. there's a website will all the modem scripts for the different brands. google it. i think nokia currently has the best mac support.

Other way around mate ... Mac has native support for about 90% of Nokia phones

i had to get scripts to get my N70 to work. currently using sonyericsson w850i via b/tooth without any problems.

Sorry, should rephrase: iSync has native support for 90% of Nokias.

Using PAN is still the easiest way for me, so that will be a requirement for my next phone

*/note to self
try Samsung i600 with WM Smartphone on the Mac.

Works great on work's Win XP PC to get around the firewall..

OK got myself the Nokia 6234 and am looking for the scripts, where can I get the config and the scripts?
