I have a Samsung Galaxy S i9000, currently rooted and running 2.3.4 (DarkyROM JVQ v10.2 - so the JVQ modem) on MTN.
I'm having an odd reception problem. I have my mobile network mode set to "GSM/WCDMA (Auto)" - normally it will pick up 3G/HSDPA where available, and switch back down to EDGE whenever there isn't a broadband signal.
However, for the past three weeks, whenever I'm at work (not just the office itself, but the surrounding suburb) if the network mode is in WCDMA, I get "No Network Available" and no connection (to anything - no SMS, calls, data), and the only way I can resolve it is by switching the network mode to GSM Only; then the phone gets full signal and EDGE data connection.
But 3G is impossible.
Has anyone had an issue like this? I logged a fault with MTN thinking that perhaps there might be something wrong with the WDCMA signal in this suburb - some fault on the tower - but I haven't had any feedback yet, and no one else in my office has mentioned any issues.
So could it be a problem with the phone (or the modem installed)? It seems to work fine everywhere else though - as soon as I drive away from the office, everything works normally again.
Any thoughts?
