3G Data cost in Ireland

Just helped a relative get online with some obscure ISP in Ireland's 3G product.

They get 7.5GB of data for 20 Euros (R222) per month.

In SA 1GB prepaid data costs R289.

Why can't vodacom/mtn take down their own prices? Neotel, Vodacom, Mtn all have their own fibre optic cables. And they have ways of getting the fibre to their end users.. Cellphone towers. Why should they ever have to bring telkom into the discussion?

Why isn't our rates more competative? God damn you Vodacom!
