With all the mighty`s of Vodafone(uk) and the world, with their billions of dollars in market value, with all the mighty`s of Vodacom with their billions in profits each year, with all their support from Telkom and the Rembrandt group, with the backing of the Siemens Technology, Vodacoms 3G launch was a disaster.

They just couldnt get that one right.

Are you really that suprised though? Come on, we're talking about Vodacom here, they're partly owned by Telscum - and everything Telscum touches, turns to kaakaa!

These are the same people that would rather give the nice phones to new customers to entice them into contracts than give them to their loyal customers that have been with them for 10+ years - as some kind of reward for their loyalty!? New customers can leave after the first two years! Get your priorities straight!

Upside down thinking if you ask me...

*shrug*

Just curious .. why do you say the launch has been a disaster? Too few people joining? Link?

If that is the case then iBurst's strategy of targeting mobile business people is going to flop hard.

They're targeting the uninformed masses much like Sentech and Telkom are doing. I've seen them pimping at both Sandton and Clearwater malls so it certainly seems they've already "launched".

When I was in Sandton and approached them they were adamant that 3 gigs was plenty. When I asked them how much an extra 3 gigs would cost the guy said he wasn't sure but something like R150 for 1 gig. I said if that were true it's absolutely crazy. WBS, if you're listening and the above cost is true... you suck.

Just a question, why are we discussing Vodacom's 3GOne here under the banner of iBurst, perhaps I have lost the thread of things?

Stunning site, really stunning ! :D

Speaks volumes about the organisation behind it - for those who are reading this months after the fact, the above website as of this date, links to a white page with :-

The system cannot find the file specified.

Oh yeah, the price is absolutely INSANE. You can get a laptop card, but get the cost :-

Blow me over, that's just moronically expensive. Anyone actually getting this service is too wealthy to care, or too stupid to know what they are doing.

An extra MB costs R10 ! - so let me do the math, if you use an extra gigabyte in a month, which is 1000 meg, you'll be billed an additional R10 000 :D

bwhahahahah - hooo boy, that is so disgusting, it makes me feel quite ill.

Hmm it seems hellkom have started a fad here.. just because they rip-off the SA consumer, now it seems every other company thinks they can just go ahead and do the same.
This is just sad, really...

I am still unsure of the cost of extra bandwidth for iBurst, because those prices will only be released once the cap is in place but I can tell you all that that price is absolute rubbish.

Sihen, an edit might be in order, bcos there is a touch of ambiguity- not sure whether you mean the 3G1Gig or iBurst price is rubbish

I don't think paying for extra bandwidth is a bad idea. At least you have the BLOODY option to. ADSL is 2,3 or 4 gig. Finished. No Discussion.

At least I-burst will let you increase your cap. I'd say R100 a gig is acceptable. It's still sucks but is acceptable to me.
(Ducks for cover as the machine gun fire starts up.......)

 are you saying that you cannot buy extra bandwidth with ADSL? You can get a second ISP a/c for ADSL if you regularly get capped.

Added: Ok, I think you mean Telkom should allow you to add more bandwidth to your existing ISP account, as opposed to buying a second ISP account, yes?
