3G in JHB

I picked up 3g on my phone in the early hours of this morning. Was only for a bit, then went bac to edge again.

In the Albertville/greymont area.

You didn't say which service provider you use. I am in the Olivedale/Jukskei Park area and haven't had a sniff of 3G for months. I didn't worry too much as my ADSL service is flying #touch wood#. However, as a client of mine in this area is totally reliant on Vodacom 3G, three weeks ago I logged a fault call with Vodacom's call centre. I'm still waiting to get a response from a technician. And no - we still have no 3G.

I would like to move to another network but frying pans and fires come to mind.

hmm...soz. Virgin mobile. doesnt bother me too much. Just use it with dsl goes down.

Well, don't bother with MTN either! I am close to you, and get 3G signal only very occasionally - and it comes and goes - mostly in "goes" mode. On the very rare occasion my phone, which I use a modem, will briefly display the HSDPA signal indicator. Fortunately I only use it weekends to access my office mail server, to check and reply to mails
