Yesterday afternoon I lost signal on my usb modem, had stuff to do anyway so I left it and when I came back a few hours later I could connect again. Same thing happened about 2 hours ago, where vodafone mobile connect is just showing "searching for network"
I called 111 and went through 7 menu options to speak to Jack in the technical department. I explained to Jack that I have been using this modem in the exact same spot on the same PC since we got 3G here (May?) and now I have no signal. Jack told me to add at+cgdcont=1,"ip","internet" to the modem init command and that he would log a call and the outbound guys would call me to see if it worked. I did this and noticed every time I restart the vmc application it clears the init commandsand also, it did not work, but nvm, I waited for the outbound guys to call me.
While I was waiting I went through my settings on vmc and found that I had 3G ONLY selected - selected 3G preferred and got a GPRS signal. Connected to GPRS.
Got tired of waiting and went through the 7 menu options again to speak to Nazi(?!) Explained the situation and she asked for my address to confirm that my area is covered. Then said my street is only partially covered - in a town with a 2km radius and the tower visible from my window. Nevermind that I have been using 3G here for months. Unless partially means only parts of the year? I insisted that she log a call and send me the ref number. I'm still waiting :/ Oh and still on GPRS :/
