Okay, I've had my last two attempts at posting lost because of stupid login issues. I keep logging in and then it... Ah, never mind. Anyway...
As Velenoso says, the mobile networks are awful. You can spend 30 minutes constantly redialing a number and not even have it ring once because they networks are so congested. So yeah, 3G is not gonna fly. However, if you need broadband...
I was a volunteer in Zim for 2 years (up until January) and our mission office had a wireless internet connection through Ecoweb (
www.ecoweb.co.zw). Was decent - probably equivalent to an iBurst connection. Also, a lot of the internet cafe's had Ecoweb wireless. Uses Wi-Max I believe.
Also, ZOL had lots of ads for broadband (
www.zol.co.zw), although I don't have any personal experience with this.
Either way, expect to pay a lot - definitely a lot more than you would for an equivalent service in SA.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
