Hi,

I've been using 3G for a while now, but mostly for email and I have lots of problems with it. I hope one of you can asssit me.

I'm using smtp.vodacom.co.za as my outgoing mail server (and have tried asmtp.saix.net as well) for incoming mail I use my internet service provider w3ds (mail.w3ds.co.za). Sometimes the accesss to mail is fast and it actually download all the messages, other times NOTHING happens and I can't download a SINGLE message. Is there something I'm missing - settings, software etc? Or is the problem with my hosting provider?

Need you advise please.

Thanks

Hey Caspern,

While this happening - the non downloading of mail - can you still surf to websites ?

Laterz !

Yip

Yes I can, and I can even log into in my mail via the web interface and it's fine, it just doesn't want to download to Outlook.

You have then kinda of proved that 3G/GPRS works

But now - try this when the mails stop flowing

Code:
telnet <mailserver>:110

Replace <mailserver> with the incoming mail server. If it connects then the problem lies with outlook or the client - if it doesn't I would vote for the ISP.

Laterz !!!

Edit: To run that command - first open a "Command Prompt" and enter it in there :D
