3g modem stays on light blue?

my cell c e1752 modem indicator light use to stay on dark blue, for the last 3 days it has been light blue and the internet is basically so slow it took me 15 mins just for this page to load. Tried all the obvious things and am now just really cross. Is this just a case of bad weather or maybe something else. all help much appreciated.

Do you know what the light blue and dark blue lights mean?
It might be something like this:
Stuck on EDGE, unable to switch to 3G (E1820 / E1752)

Green is normally edge
Dark blue is 3G
Light blue is HSDPA

Slightly different situation, but maybe it helps.

The tower closest to me was recently upgraded to 3G/HSDPA from Edge. Problem is the data lines for the faster transmission is not yet installed (MTN waiting for Telkom) so the 3G connects but do not work. (very slow and erratic).

My modem was set to autoswitch between EDGE and 3G so obviously took the faster one. Set it to Edge only solves the problem. Will be waiting for the 3G to start working properly and then switch over again.

thanks all, as a tempory solution i have reverted back to 2G only, at least the internet is usable.
