Hi all,

Just one to throw out the propeller heads for any advice.
My client requires remote viewing of a standalone IP camera which i will configure with DynDns, but its lacking internet connectivity. Just 1 IP cam mounted on a pole with no other connectivity.
ADSL not possible due to area, IBurst no coverage, but MTN has 3G/HSDPA coverage.
Any ideas how to hook up cam with 3g without pc?

any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Get a 3G router like the linksys one. Configure dyndns and port forwarding on it, stick in 3G card from MTN etc and you should be sorted.

Hehe, just like what arf9999 just said...

tx for the quick response guys, but is the 3g network not on a private IP range (10.*.*.* for eg) which is not connectable to DynDns? Would be great if i was wrong.

aaaah, but this is a question for mtn or vodacom, not us mere mortals. As far as I know it is possible to get an unrestricted APN from vodacom which may sort out the issue...

no vodacom 3G in area. Just MTN. Blast it, next thing I know there wont even be power there.
