3G Phone or E220 HSDPA USB Modem???

I was told today that our area will have 3G in 2 months time. I am a data user and making phone calls or sending SMS's are minimal, now i ask myself why buy a 3G phone for data for about R2000.00 while i can buy the E220 usb modem for R2300.00 with HSDPA,3G,EDGE and GPRS.
I am on GPRS and do not know much about broadband, so can you give me some advice on this please.

The E220's definitely a much better option for data, as long as you've got another actual phone obviously.

Theres so many options, I saw a Hauwei phone today, so thats also an option.
I suggest getting the modem but if you need both rather get a phone.
And if you only using GPRS youll love 3G and HSDPA;)

Yes Syndyre this is only for data. I use my older Nokia 6110 as a phone only, but my Moto L7 SLVR that i use for GPRS at the moment can also be used as phone only.

500mb at R189, 1gig at R289 , 2gigs at R389.

I seriously doubt u'll want HSDPA, cause at those prices. if u did 5-8gigs a month. U might aswell hand your paycheck over.

3G = 384K (or around 30-40kb per second)

3G is more than enuff for gaming, and web browsing, Messenger and irc
*dunno how gaming is over 3G but it won't have better pings on HSDPA, since its not a question of 30kb per sec or 150kb per sec, but a question of Ping times from Cellphone or modem to Tower etc.*

U can get 3G phones for cheap.

For Small usage, 3G is more than enuff
