Having problems setting up my routers. I have a TP Link MR3020 which uses my 3G dongles to get internet access. It is in turn plugged into the WAN port of another TP Link router which is just a plain router but is much better at delivering wifi to the other devices.

However it creates a new IP level on the second router. Its affects my samba and shared drives when communicating via IP as it changes it when the 3G router is plugged in.

Is it possible to connect these two routers together with IP addresses on the same level while still getting internet from the MR3020? Also need access to both their admin menus.

DHCP needs to be enabled on only one router. Also check that the gateway setup by the dhcp server is the 3g router.

3G Router

Gateway: 192.168.0.254
Range: 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199
DHCP enabled

Second router

Gateway:192.168.1.1
Range: 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.199
DHCP enabled

In this setup with 3G router into WAN port of second router I can access both admin menus but obviously my IP addresses change.

If I disable DHCP on second router then I don't get assigned any IP addresses on wireless or wired and cannot access admin menus unless plugged directly into router and have to access by clicking on router icon under network.

Following this. Want to run LTE uncapped via current adsl router and be able to switch to vox fatpipe 150 special

OK. There is the problem. Both routers will need to be on the same subnet. So there second router you will need to change its IP address to 192.168.0.1

You should then be able to connect and disable dhcp on it.
You then then also need to change its gateway to 192.168.0.254

The second router gets assigned an IP of 192.168.0.xxx on the client list of the 3G router. I'll change the gateway on the second router tomorrow and see what happens.

Don't plug it into the wan port, to connect the two use the lan ports. And make sure they are in same IP range as the guys stated above.

Okay, DHCP off on second router. And 3G router plugged into normal lan portof second router. Getting IP addresses from the 3G router but internet is not filtering down for some reason.

Can't access menu of the second router to change channels and whatever.

Okay everything up and running. Problem was on MR3020 side. Was using WISP to connect to an hotspot and it somehow was not connecting to ISP.

Still trying to access the second router menu though.

I've decided to leave my routers cascaded as I had originally had it i.e. 3G router into WAN port of second router. All I have done is adjusted the IP range to 192.168.1.xxx on the second router so there's no IP conflict to change everytime.

Benefits of this are:
1. I can access both my router menus if I'm connected to the second router. And my second router has more functions so I can leverage that at any time. With DHCP off it was basically a dumbed up router.
2. I don't have to have both routers on for DHCP. Each runs independently.
3. Devices connected to second router can connect to and request stuff from upstream but upstream devices cannot request or connect to devices downstream. I read it up on smallnetbuilders and tested with various connections and samba. It's essentially creating a private network on the second router.

There is a possible future use of the 3G router setup as a guest network but that's not needed at the moment.
