OK, so I know this question may have been asked before but here goes:

My 2GB Vodacom 3G contract is about to expire. Do I go with Cell-C, MTN or with Vodacom again?

Cell-C seems to be the cheapest/fastest and people seem to be happy with it.

PS: No, I am not interested in ADSL atm.

First borrow a dongle from a friend who uses Cell C and try it at your place. If you get good RSSI and it doesn't disconnect too often buy Cell C.

If not, don't buy Cell C, Or else you'll be coming to these forums to moan and groan and say what a piece of crap Cell C is.

It all boils down to location, location, location...

If only I did this before getting it, anyway it depends.
Besides the price what other problems are you experiencing with Vodacom?
If you're not getting disconnections and have a reliable service then I'd recommend you stay for now because cell c has lots of problems.

No problems. I just think Vodacom is too expensive.

I changed from Neotel to Cell C - I agree with Madhawk - and if you even just get reasonable speeds - then comparatively it is much cheaper. I peak only at +-3.5Mbps - would like to see the 5+ - but I suppose my location restricts me to what I have. :)

Where are you located?

Just don't sign up another 2 year contract with Vodacom/MTN. Who knows maybe Cell C has good coverage in your area.

Cell C are still rolling out their towers/coverage. They are not perfect, but at the moment they are the best value for money for those that need 5GB or 2GB per month.

I'm in Edenvale and the coverage map shows that we are indeed covered. Not planning on moving out of the JHB area anytime soon either.

Tip:

If your vodacom modem supports 900 MHz, buy a Cell C prepaid sim card, load it with data and test it at your place.

Don't pay R3000 or R1500 until you are absolutely happy.
