Hi All,

I have had a problem with my E170 data card on Vista ever since I got it. The dashboard/software installs fine and pops up, but it doesn't detect the data card. (weird since as soon as I plug in the data card it pops up the dadshboard). When I click connect it sais 'Disconnected or unavailable'. The way i've been able to get around this is by creating a dial up connection and manually connecting each and every time I use 3G.

Well my problem is that I now have a Cell C data card as well. I plugged it in last night for the first time, it installed the drivers and software all fine but the exact same thing happens. I click connect and it cant find the device.

Now for some reason I cant connect using my Cell C or my MTN card. There's nothing wrong with the cards, they both work fine on another laptop using windows xp. It just refuses to work on Vista.

I deleted the manual dial up connection in the hopes that recreating it might work, but I cant set it up because it asks for a username/password when creating the connection. What would I enter there? I cant remember how I first created the dial up connection. But even if I can get a dial up connection working,...that still doesn't change the fact that the software/dashboard doesn't work.

Any suggestions?
Frustrated is an understatement

have you searched online for more updated software?

Software that works in XP could have problems in Vista

I've downloaded the relevant update for the E170 from mtn's website here: http://www.mtn.co.za/Support/DeviceDownloads/Pages/default.aspx

The problem is, I try to run it and it sais it cant find the device. Again, this is weird because when I plug it in the dashboard pops up, so surely it has been detected. I then try to either click connect, or run the update, neither of which work.

Everything seems to be fine in device manager. The only thing that has an error is something called 'Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface' under the network adapters section. Whatever that means. Not sure if it's related to this problem. But under modems everything is fine.

It might be that the update can't communicate with the modem because the dashboard is using it. Try closing the dashboard before running the updater.

Nope, no difference unfortunatly.

I've tried one port each on the left and right of the laptop.
