So wireless online informed me that they can't give me internet access at my new place so i'm kinda stuck with getting internet now.
Have to say for the price i paid i got excellentish service from the blokes but allas that ship has sailed an i figure the best way to get connect again is with adsl.

So anybody got a nice package worked out?

I was figuring

Option1:
Telkum: 192
Cybersmart 3gig account
R370=192kb(270)+3gb(100)

Option2:
Telkum: 192
Axxess: 5gb
R619=192kb(270)+5gb(349)

Already got a line in the household so no need to get second one right?

Anybody got a better option for a max of R480 pm for the isp portion?
Also how is axxess and cybersmart ping time to saix an the like? equal to telkum's pings?

Thanks in advance for your help guys

you realise with their top up 3GB it comes to 6GB = 230 or so i think which is still cheap.

ooh. Thanks wisecrack didn't see the saol offering. That be it then

K
384kb + 10gb

Starting to almost sound like broadband he?

Total cost pm. R708.00 not too bad i think an means i can even download if i'm lucky one or two mods with an ep of battle star galactica.

This is not counting steam's downloads the bastards.

saol 349 for 10 gigs is awesome
[rant mode] No offense intended killadoob but there is nothing awesome about that price. Now I know its not saol's fault and they're doing the best they can but I cringe when I see anyone referring to any aspect of adsl in this country as awesome. [/rant mode] Still, it seems to be one of the better offerings available at the moment. :)

In current pricing regime the saol price seems at moment to be superior to others. I'll still have to test their support and saix speeds but one can only hope.

Oh for a package that actually let me download an episode of whatever everyday at least and still be able to have internet afterward :(
Would love to say
Monday: naruto
Tuesday: ST NG
Wednesday: Desperate Housewives
Thursday BSG
Friday-Sunday: Documentaries.
L8 sunday: pron :)

Can anybody tell me if I take the 10GB SAOL option, will me and a buddy be able to play online through the same connection?

Postman.
Not worried bout the extra 90 bucks. Friends got a line in his flat so were just gonna use that and install the line on there. Saves the 90 bucks a month.

VeXX007.
It's quite easy to share your bandwidth with a friend that's on ure lan.

Most routers have a dhcp facility built into them. If not then there are numerous ways to share a internet connection. You can share most connections from 56k all the way up to.......
I think you get the point.

In other related news i took a stroll down to hell today to get the forms.

Standing there in quee only to be told everything can be done online made me smile a bit. nice day though so well worth it.

Ou toppie in front of me was getting a 1024 line with a "download" package.......4gb unshaped....and paying through his fewking nose.

So I wys him in front of the sales rep bout SAOL and the others and he goes.....yeah but he needs it for downloading so he needs the 1024 speed with the downloads UNSHAPED..........
At that point i was just to flabbergasted to even reply to this guy anymore.

dude.

you have to pay existing telephone line rental (i.e for calls), PLUS, ontop of that, you have to pay for ADSL line rental, which uses the exact same line. telkom for you :D

If you're only talking about a one hour episode per day then that would be 10.25gb per month - bummer. A couple people with their own accounts with similar tastes could form a co-op and you'd be laughing.

.....k seems i'm not making it crystal.

Costs involved in adsl.
Line rental: 90
ADSL Rape: R359 (384)
ISP: 349 (10 gb)

All that i will pay for my adsl is this.
ADSL Rape: R359 (384)
ISP: 349 (10 gb)

Reason being.....friend has a line already. Therefore we just use his landline for the service and get everything installed on there.......

I know how i'm being raped but considering my situation its the only feasible way that it suits my pocket.
Most bang for my iskies.

So.....to reiterate. I bypass the R90 line rental every month cause I don't have a separate line for myself but rather uses someone else's Not yet adsl used for landline.

Maybe i'm being to vague still........may need flowcharts and diagrams to get the point across :)

Or you could just say your friend will continue paying the r90 line rental while you pay the rest.

Or you could get 12 gigs (4X Cybersmart) for R400? Extra R50 for 2gigs, it's worth it. Then you also have the option of leaving like 2mb on each account and raping them in one day for all the bandwidth you can (because they only tally up bandiwdth usage once a day, in case you didn't know already)
Is this possible or even a good idea?

Nice idea. Though i'm not for using so many multiple accounts. I like my technology to be good and unobtrusive to let me get on with living an not get bogged down in technicalities.

That's prbly why i like Wireless online so much. Paid once a month flat fee and the net was always there and always connected. Except for a bit of teething problems i had almost no issues with them.

what are the contact details for "Wireless Online" ??? sounds interesting :)

and what was the "package" deal like?
