Has anyone got feedback for me on 3Gi Internet services' ability to porvide services? They are now signing up customers in our area as FTTH service providers and I have two options, them and Telkom. So I'd like to make an infomred decision if anyone has an opinion that will be able to assist in my deciion making.

Thanks guys!

OK, first let me say I have never used this company. But the website looks like a cooker cutter template, the knowledge base is still under construction and their domain registration contains only a PO box rather than a physical address. I can also see no physical address on the website.

Based on the above and the fact that the DNS is served from http://www.bdse.co.za, I'd assume this is an attempt by B&D systems engineers to get into the fiber market. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I'd personally rather use a company with more experience in the fibre market.

Wow, cool insight. Thanks.

This was my feeling, that these guys are just getting started. Webafrica now also joined in the mix, maybe give them a shot.

The thing is that 3GI will not charge for installation (R2k discount) and Webafrica does charge it.

OK, I think you have something confused. For fiber, there is a last mile provider, they are the people that lay the actual fiber to your house. In addition, there is an ISP who provide the service to the customer. WebAfrica only provide data over other peoples network. As you mentioned telkom, it sounds like the actual fiber will be layed by OpenServe. If that's the case, then you have a huge choice of ISP's. Pretty much any ISP that provided data over ADSL can also provide data over OpenServe fiber and a number of them will subsidize your installation (including WebAfrica if you order before November 5th). I believe at least Axxess and Afrihost also currently subsidize the installation.

But be warned, if that's the case, most of them will charge you for the installation if you move within the first 12 months.

Thanks, all the ISP's prices are there or thereabouts. So service is the differentiator I assume. This was my only concern with going with #GI as I have never heard of them before and can't find a track record.
