I spy with my little eye 3 new steam content servers in SA:

A second Web Africe server and 2x Mweb servers (CPT & JHB), bringing the total to 1x IS, 2x WA, 2x MWeb.

They are already active, but I don't see any announcement yet from either WA or MWeb.

Solid start to the new year.

What is a steam content server? And how does this benefit an internet user
Sorry, if this sounds like a silly question.

Um WA beat Mweb to the punch by ~9 months in setting up a content server.

True but MWeb have uncapped international, making a content server pretty much obsolete (except for saving MWeb money). The steam speeds I experience were pretty much full speed, although I am getting a few kbps more now ;)

And the quality is decent, I'm getting the best WoW latency I have ever experienced over 5 years of playing. So I stand by my statement that MWeb is making WA look silly.

I saw the WebAfrica one, which I've whitelisted (and get as little love from as the other one for Ion Assualt :p).

Can someone get me the IPs of those MWEB ones?

I want to whitelist them and forward them through my MWeb account.

Even though I make a lot of use of my uncapped account, it's almost exclusively from local servers on MWEBs own network.

I'm seriously considering scrapping my 30GB+4Mbps from WebAfrica and getting just a slightly higher speed uncapped from Mweb.

Will see what the year hold on the broadband front though...

How are we supposed to get the IPs? I only have the IP of one of the WA servers which is 41.185.60.43 but I want the other one too. I'm using Steamwatch so I can force Steam to use the WA Freezone servers.
I sent WA support a message, will post here when I get the other IP.

Thanks Pyro.

To get the IPs, disable steamwatch/firewall & check the IPs it connects to in a connection monitoring tool. e.g. TCPView.

Then either look at traceroutes or do a whois if you don't know which is which.

Looks like I can't finish my FEAR 2 download on the WA servers. Was at about 93% when I last saw it downloading. Are the WA severs struggling or don't they fully mirror FEAR 2?
