So they upgraded my exchange at last, but my router only sync at 6144....but im like 3 blocks from exchange. (maby 300-400m at max)

My friend at telkom say my router will sync at best it can, he cant set me higher. So i also called telkom and they said also they can do noting their side.

What u guys think? Can i get my 10MB in full or what stand me to do?

Thx

Look in the status of your router and give us your attenuation rate and noise margin.

It all depends on how much noise you get. At the last place I worked we could sync at a full 10MB, then dew to the noise on the line it kept on dropping. so we ended up getting Telkom to sync it at 4MB which was solid, never dropping and chugged down data.
If your closes to your exchange and dont get much noise on the line, you should have stats closer to this.

For SNR and Attenuation lower is better:
SNR Margin (dB): 24.9 21.0
Attenuation (dB): 13.0 5.3
Output Power (dBm): -0.7 0.0
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 28008 1080
Rate (Kbps): 6144 635

so i wonder what makes the noise then? is their a fix?
The SNR is an indicator of the condition of the copper pair that is used for your ADSL , no real fix .
How ever other things like alarms and extensions on you line can also affect your SNR.
Disconnect every thing from your line and just connect your router and see if you get an improvement .(no filter either )

tells me im not even sepose to get 1mb...or am i wrong?

IF i get the Netgear Modem Router Dg834 , and use the "jesus firmware of DGteam" will that work?

I originally also only got 6Mbps after my exchange was upgraded, a few days later it went up to 10Mbps automatically.

it seems SNR is not problem, its the att.....SNR higher is better via that link...

Don't think it's you're line quality. Remember to divide you're numbers by 10 (Attn. 11.0dB / 4.8dB). It's more than likely Telkom restricting speeds at the exchange. Maybe drop TelkomZA a PM and see if he can help.

what u think happend?

They were probably still busy with some upgrades to the backhaul which prevented then from putting everyone onto 10Mb after they switched us to the new DSLAMs

I am about 350 meters from the exchange which at this stage only supports 4Mb, these are my readings:

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4096 kbps 507 kbps
Line Attenuation 6.0 db 1.7 db
Noise Margin 30.3 db 23.4 db

You can also try this link http://www.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/ and see what it shows what speed your exchange is meant to be.

My exchange does support 10MB - but I only sync at 8MB, due to various things like distance from exchange and quality of copper.
I sometimes do sync at 10 MB - but the line becomes unstable and I get resets often. If I switch off my modem (for about an hour or so) it goes back to 8MB

Your exchange supports ADSL

Maximum speed available in your area is 10Mbps

Your current product speed is : 4Mbps

Please note: The provision of Telkom's ADSL service is subject to network availability, distance, copper quality and line sync speed limitations. ADSL is a best-effort service.
Odd that they say the available speed is 10Mb, our exchange hasn't been upgraded as far as I know.
