i have 4 connections from telkom here in my office thing is i dont see why i should use 4 ADSL modems, what i think it could be is a billing issue with accounts, Is there anyway i can cancel 2 modems and use 2

maybe give each individual a pppoe connection for there own ??

or run a server with some type of software to spilt the costs ??

1. Can you cancel 2 modems?

What was signed?

2. Can I use 2?

Erm, yup.

3. Maybe give each individual a pppoe connection of their own.

Should be fine.

4. Run a server with some type of software to split the costs?

Software like that does exist. IPCop has a very simplistic plugin for this, but it struggles with differentiating local-only and international traffic, so if you don't need that, it will do the job fine.

I have been reading a lot of your threads.... I have come to the conclusion that you need to pay some one to do your it stuff for you.

:erm::D

I was going to suggest to him to acquire a CISCO 1841 with two ADSL WIC's as well as a 3G WIC as well as a decent switch.

Run as many different ISP's as you want.
Put your users into VLAN's and associate them with ISP of choice.
Use the 3G as failsafe backup.
Setup some ACL's and security and away you go.

Much better than fiddling with individual machines.:(

Another option is get yourself a Mikrotik Routerboard RB450G or the new RB750, they have 5 ports, configure 2 of them to your ADSL modems, which will be in bridge mode, run the PPPOE sessions from the Mikrotuk, configure load balancing.

Then for internal splitting of the billing you can setup an internal pppoe server, linked to Mirkrotik's user manager package on the unit, that way you can see what each user is using and assign a cap to each user.

As you are not a networking person, you will need help with any solution you get so be prepared to pay someone ;)
