Porsche, Aston and Lambo all have new 4 door supercars...
good idea or bad idea?

Porsche has officially unveiled its most controversial car yet, the Panamera, at the world’s preeminent auto show - Shanghai.

The oriental location seemed quite fitting for the Panamera unveiling, as the burgeoning Chinese car market remains geared to purchase all and sundry from premium manufacturers, with styling and heritage secondary considerations to image value.

Lamborghini's Estoque is its first four-door car since the LM002 4X4 nearly two decades ago. And the LM002 was better looking.

After weeks of speculation and surreptitiously leaked teaser images in the preamble to the Pairs motor show this week, the supercar division of Audi are now showing off the Estoque.

We don’t know how to pronounce the name either, but allegedly it denotes the sword Matadors use to kill bulls – we’re sure the anti-car environmental lobbyists are in rapture about this.

Following the Rapide Concept shown at the Detroit Motor Show in 2006, Aston Martin is now coming up with the real machine and is testing the new model at the challenging German Nürburgring.

Former owner Ford had put the project on hold when they decided to sell the biggest pack of shares.

After selling this to the group lead by David Richards, one of the first decisions was to revive the project and start developing the production version Rapide. Together with the body, the DB9 will provide its platform and its V12-engine.

The car is believed to be released in 2010 and will hit a highly competitive market: The Aston Martin Rapide will have to fight against Porsche Panamera, Audi A7 and Mercedes CLS.

It's not really something new... it was popular during the 70/80s.
But I don't see the point. Perhaps you'd want to have the dog sit at the back.

Apparently porsche wanted to do this a long time ago in the late 80's or early 90's but it never materialized. The designer involved in the scraped project then joined mazda and designed the Astina. They say the lines of the Astina was some of he's ideas for the 4 door porsche.

The new designer for this 4door porsche doesnt seem as creative though.

Why the hell is the Panamera Porsche's "most controversial car yet"?

Cayenne, anyone???

i am a huge fan of Porsche but that Panamera, was the designer drunk when he designed it :sick:

Damn that Porsche is ugly...

If you want a 4 door car that goes fast, why not just get an RS6 or E55?

The problem was that Porsche was having finance problems in the 80"s, thats why plans were scrapped.
As to the Lambo, it was designed and created as a cruiser rather than a bruiser, with a Diesel version also on the cards.
It was to be the family car in the Lambo group.
Latest I heard is the Estoque will not be. sad, very sad
