Why is there no good 4K monitors is SA?

Or maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

I think your best bet is going to be to wait a few months for international trade to open up a bit more. We'll get a wider variety of options and prices will probably also come down.

Otherwise you can compromise and get somethings like LG's 4K monitor with freesync for R5.5k, or a high refresh rate 1440p monitor if you're really impatient.

I understand the excitement but sadly that's the situation we're in.

can this monitor output 4k like some 1440p monitors

the monitor then would downscale the image to 1440p
Yes. Can confirm - I hooked it up to a PS4 Pro a day or two ago for testing.

Edit: Actually I can't remember if I had supersampling enabled or if the PS4 was set to 4k (as opposed to 1080P) ... will have to double check.

Sorry - nope. Supersampling is enabled and the PS4 is doing the conversion from 4K to 1080P, and then the monitor is upscaling the 1080P. The PS4 won't let me select 4k. SS is a huge improvement though.

I don't know how well it works with other monitors, but running my 1440p mecer with a 4K input is so bad even my wife notices it.

This country has a terrible selection of monitors. It seems hardly any of the new monitors you see in reviews ever make it to our shores.

Quite a few dev, we just end up getting them at like +50% compared to US due to taxes and import, which makes good 4k rare as they're priced out of the market for most locals.
Amazon shipping is decent, so do check there as well.
