Time to go 4k, so wanna hear some thoughts.

I watch supersport, and a ton of series via stuff on my plex server and xbox one S as media player. Currently using 2x samsung 1080p 48" tvs.

Looking to get 2x 50" 4k screens that wont break the bank. Just need decent 4k and 1080p upscaling. Not fussed with sound, as its done via soundbars. Not overly worried about dolby vision.

So as far as budget decent'ish 4k tvs go it looks like the Samsung AU7000 or the LG UP7500.

Hisense gets too many people complaining about panel quality, at this price point.

Thoughts?

Go LG. I had Samsung, but LG has better warranty, and is a better TV if I have to be honest.

Samsung only has a 1 year warranty, LG is 2 years. Also, I find the picture quality on my LG better.

I prefer the Samsung - until you get LG OLED - and then until Samsung S95

I have had two issues with my Samsungs over the years and both replaced by Samsung, albeit with a bit of fighting. One was over 2 years and out of warranty - but they still gave me a R12,000 credit on any other Samsung TV. The other was replaced for a new model

I suggest that you look at both in the shops, preferably when they are showing a rugby game or something with fast movement. That will give you the best idea of which you prefer.
Personally I went with an LG 4k tv and have been very happy with it

4K really isn’t all that, HDR is the big game changer.

I would rather have HDR and 1080p (especially for such a small screen) than 4K with no or crappy HDR.

LG Nanocells are pretty decent.

It depends on a lot of things.
oled screens are better in dark rooms and their black colour is amazing
led screens are better for brighter rooms and can be brighter.
if going for lg then for oled I would choose C1, if non oled then their nanocell -
the oled is also better for gaming

for samsung choose the qled ones as picture quality is better and brighter

Sony have a few nice tvs avaialble at hificorp On their website, and I hear their color accuracy is good

buyijg tvs is a subjective experience and best to goto a shop and see the picture quality yourself.

Bad idea. In the shop it will be on store setting, not home setting. What you see is not what you get.

Fair point, particularly with regards to colour / saturation levels (or whatever it is called).
A sports game should hopefully, at least to some extent, show how the TV deals with fast movements. I recall the hisense brand struggling when it came to fast movement but perhaps that could be improved if one were to fiddle with the settings
