Hi All
Sorry if i am duplicating an existing post...
Some advice needed
O Recently my 4mb adsl line is syncing at 5120, now Ive read about Telkom enabling ASSIA, hence my line sync rate has been "upped".
How do i go about getting the extra +-1mb extra, the call center says my area only supports 4 and they cannot upgrade my line, having said that, a friend of mine who lives like 100 meters from my house, is getting 4.6mb on a 4mb adsl, and he hasn't even asked for the upgrade..
We both connect to the same "exchange"

Help will be appreciated

If you're syncing at 5120 then you should already be enjoying the benefit of the increased speed. Just make sure your ISP account is not throttled to 4Mbps (eg Mweb 4Mbps uncapped product)

Checked that as well...ive also tried different accounts, still getting 3.6 of the 4mb

I'm also syncing at 5120kbps, I don't get more then 480kbps DL speed, it all depends on your ATT and line noise, they play a big part in line sync speed. I'm currenly logged at 47db ATT and 9db SNR...speedtest shows 3.9mb DL speed

PS: my ADSL modulation is ADSL G.dmt , thats why I'm getting 5120Kbps. On ADSL 2+ I get 2mb.

Not always.. I sync at 5, but still only get 4Mbps due to the dslam that's 100 years old :)

Mine is
SNR Margin 31.0 db 20.0 db
Attenuation 18.5 db 10.5 db

ADSL Mode ITU G.992.1(G.DMT)

download speeds of 400kbps

Its likely that you still running on a old DSLAM, did you force your router to sync on G.DMT? or does it auto connect to that?...If it auto connects to G.DMT then you running on a old DSLAM which only supports 4mb, wouldn't worry to much if you do, you not paying for a 5mb line :)...

Yeah it's auto forced...ok cool thanks...was just wondering if I could benefit from it..
Thanks mate..

cool, no problem dude, if you have issues with your line in the future, ask the attending telkom tech to switch you to the new MSAN if it's available:)

i have asked, and apparently there is now new MSAN in my area, they say there is currently a project on the go to get the entire infrastructure upgraded, this has been going on for over 2 years now, so kinda lost hope,
Anyways thanks for the feedback, much appreciated....
