hey Guys! Hope you all doing well. I have a question regarding the 4MB ADSL Trail Package:

I am currently on 384k ADSL, but i want to upgrade to the 1024K Package. Will telkom automaticly put me on the 4MB Trail Line, or should i ask for it? How does it work?

Thnx..
Regards

Well depending on how close you are to the exchange you will be given the highest sync that your line can support.

So i know guys whose lines max out at 1024(1mbit) all depending on line quality...

Ok, so lets say my line can't not go to 4MB, but can go lets say to 2.5MB, will they still bother moving it to that or will telkom simply leave it at 1MB?

Thnx

I got my line upgrade (384 < 1024 < 4096) this morning, 3 hours after I placed my application for upgrade...w00t!!!

I sync at 4096 down etc but my bandwidth that I'm actually getting seems terrible. I tried www.speedtest.net where I only got 498kbps...Are there problems with adsl lines?

oh I'm in Paarl, Western Cape. Sorry for the noob questions I don't visit these sites often.

498 kbps is perfectly fine. Thats around what you should be getting for the 4mb line. Its a big jump from 40-50kbps on a 384k line
