4MB - Is it ISP Related?

Just like everyone else, I've been bumped up to 4MB's, but I'm not getting anything near what other users are getting. Probably getting 1.7MB's. My Attentuation and SNR are excellent and the router is syncing at 4096. My question is, where is the bandwith controlled. I am on M-Web and would like to know what other M-Web users are getting on the 4MB's package.

Im not sure its ISP related. I use 3 different ISP's and im getting 3.4mbps.
Maybe its the server you are downloading from?

Telkom said we can expect between 786 up too a theoratical max of 4 Mbps ... getting 4Mbps throughput all the time is not guarranteed.

The 4mbit is not ISP related, assuming your ISP has enough bandwidth

Well that pretty much proves it, doesn't it? ISP's aside from Cybersmart for example, don't throttle your speed.

Uncapped solutions are another story though.

The ISP's do not throttle your speed, they just give u the bandwidth, all line speeds are controlled by Telkom..

yep, now everybody on 1mbps uncapped will propably fight an endless battle with their ISP's hehehe

Some ISPs do - you buy a package at a specific speed and that's all you'll get.

Obviously those accounts have throttled ports but why the hell would anyone wanna buy one, cant believe ISP's do that...sucky
