Hey there,

Is it possible to run 4 different ISP's (1 MWEB, 1TELKOM, 1CYBERSMART, 1IMAGINET) off one router ?

Thanks

please explain a bit more....

I have not yet decided on a router, please elaborate as I need to decide which ISP's to use, and which router / modem to buy. The reason I am doing this, is because I need to have DIFFERENT IP addresses outside the network on the internet.

Thx

you can buy just about ANY adsl router. almost all of them will have bridging function. you can also get just about ANY adsl account as long as it has 4 concurrent connections (unless you want more than 4 adsl accounts).

It's really not that hard to setup. all your pc's will have PUBLIC IP addresses

A client requested this for a specific project he has in the pipeline.

Do you recommend any specific router?

This may not be hard to set up - but I am still unsure as what to do, as I am n00b!

This is part of your other post and in my opinion should be merged.

To answer it yes it is possible on Routers that support bridged/half-bridged mode dialing

For a nice description of bridged mode read this
Bridge Mode

* Does not block any broadcast or multicast

* Transparent bridge and can pass Non-IP protocols

* PPPOE protocol Pass-through

* Able to transport VLAN tagging

* No network segmentation. One broadcast domain

* Network segmentation (Clients can be on different IP subnet)

* Can only relay the DHCP client's request to the external DHCP server

* Bridges maintains bridging table (Mac) & STP can be used to avoid loops

* External bandwidth Controller can be used to control the speed of the clients by Mac or IP address

* In client device, it uses MAC address to associate which requires WDS compatible AP

The one you're looking for is PPPoE Passthrough.

Every Device on the network that supports PPPoE dialing ( PC's. Smarthphones. Mac's etc ) can establish its own individual ADSL connection by using the Bridge as its modem. Thus creating an extra Internet-facing IP

Ok well,

I have ordered the 4MB line, and I am in the process of registering 4 different DSL accounts from 4 different ISP's

I will keep you posted.

Thx Wulf
