Can anybody help me.

I have a 4mb line from telkom and it keeps getting disconnected. I phoned telkom to reduce the speed to 3mb but it still got disconnected. They also say that there is nothing wrong with the line.

Any help please?

Have you check that you have line filters on all analogue telephone devices?

here are many threads covering this type of problem on the site searching will help you

What ADSL modem or router are you using? Is the modem disconnecting or just not syncing?

Yes we do. Its not like a normal disconnect. I log on to the internet, then at so random time of the day I get disconnected then it reconnects and then disconnects. It continues until it is haapy to stay connected so I caan't really say for how long it happens or how many times. But it usually happens once a day.

I have Marconi Premium Combo. It could be that its not syncing, I'm not truly sure. It must be losing sync for my pc doesn't say that I have been disconnected and the router doesn't shoe it either.

Does the router create the PPPOE connection or do you dial from your PC? Otherwise try resetting the router back to factory defaults.

I have a couple of setup manuals which don't come with the router documentation if you're interested.

LoL we did that, that's when they said there is nothing wrong with the line .......liars

Monitor the US/DS margins on the router and see what they are when it disconnects. If they are very low there is problems with the line.

I had an issue with my line (that turned out to be the router) that I monitored with a program called "Router Stats". I needed to know what the SNR was at the time of the line cutting out and this allowed me to log the status over time graphically. It's selective with the routers it supports, but can connect to quite a few. I also managed to coax it to work with mine, that wasn't on the supported list. As a rule, I now run this program in the background anyway, just for incase.
