4mb Uncapped Standard - Afrihost Question

Hi guys,

Looking for some advice from any current Afrihost 4mb uncapped users.

I've had an Afrihost 'account' for a couple years, but was forced away from them after the MTN move due to poor latency to EU. I've had an Openweb Gamer's Delight 4mb (Standard) account since then which has mostly proven adequate.

Now I feel like maybe it's worth revisiting them, the Openweb account has started to struggle more and more with my usage, and is totally inadequate if I'm at home during the day (some mornings, public holidays, afternoons etc).

I'd like to stay within the R400pm budget so I'm curious what the Afrihost uncapped performance is like these days, given the following usage:

- Mostly after hours usage, with occasional usage from 3pm-6pm or 6am - 9am
- Lots of Twitch.tv streaming (High/720p minimum)
- Roughly 100GB/month total consumption
- Dota 2 local and EU (What are the pings to 146.66.152.1? - Lux server)
- News downloads (No need for high retention, local/MTN news server any good?)
- Very occasional torrents

Very grateful for any feedback!

Cheers

I consume probably around 200GB per month and experience no shaping or throttling.

Torrenting ranges between 100kbps to 350kbps depending on the time of day.

Cannot speak for your other needs there though. Below my ping results for you.

I am very happy with Afrihost.

Kopite, much appreciated. Latency looks a bit erratic, but it's 3pm so I won't read too much into it. I'd ideally like sub-200ms (from JHB)

The local afrihost news server is very good, I'd say on par with IS news server. Daytime speeds are also awesome, especially browsing

That will have to do with the MTN backbone I rate. I understand you will want sub 200ms. If I remember I will post some results tonight for ya.
