I am a complete novice in 4x4 off-road driving. Is it recommended to do 4x4 driving course ? I saw this video and considering I have no experience in driving 4x4, I wouldn't have a clue as to how to handle such situation/vehicle. 35 degree slope side driving, steep uphill with obstacles etc.

Did you guys just manage to do similar obstacles without any training whatsoever ?

If you search a bit there are a few that can train you at the hennops track:

Do you really need training though? Its not needed for the typical person only if you plan on going in 4x4 specific routes.

Yes, I did search and got this as well. I just needed forum's input based on experience which can be really helpful many times. Thanks.

@surface go to a pub in the far east or west of Johannesburg. Aim for a small town. I guarantee you some oke at the pub will give you expert advice once you ply some branna’s.

It’s a way of life around those parts.

Went to their off road motorcycle course. It was epic, so I'd recommend this one.

Andre actually does training courses. Here

@surface I did training and besides learning quite a few new things it pushed me to see and try limits of vehicle.
Later on when encountering similar obstacles on our trips I was less anxious and had idea of what I can and can not do.
Still I do not like sand and dunes.....

So you want to cut tires on your new car. Or scratch or dent it with rocks and branches?
Good point. Maybe I should wait for a while.

Thanks - Yeah - I was thinking the same but I suppose there is no need to directly jump on the toughest 4x4 route on a new car and I can just go along with normal Kruger/pilanesburg routes for now, which I am sure are pretty straight forward without any training.

I do have it now. Very recent purchase so still got that new car fever.

Anywhere where only 4x4s can go.
Very nice. Which car ?

Lmao - If that's how you 4x4 - YOU need driving lessons.

Sand and dunes - Needs raw power, 4x4 Low, 3rd gear.

Even for not so tough routes it is good to take course, classes also have do's and don'ts of rescue, tyre pressure advice and many more small bits that help in bundu.

First thing to get is compressor and pressure gauge.
