Ok, so i posted a thread in the Member's request forum and didn't know that people couldn't reply :wtf: lol.

I'm looking for 5.25" Floppy Drives in working order, I'm after the stepper motor. I've had a few pm's so far that are looking good. So naturally the first and best offer will be considered.

I don't want to pay an absurd amount since it is outdated tech, so give me an offer and let's see. I'm looking at getting about 3 or so. No i won't tell you the price i want, that's up to you .

I will pay for postage :p, and hopefully your a seller/buyer on bid or buy but if not, it's not a problem.

So let's hear it.

I might be able to get a few for you from my old school. Had about 10 PCs stacked up at the back of the IT classroom which all had floppy drives.

Turns out someone beat me to it. All the PCs no longer have 5.25" drives :(

As a matter of interest, what do you want to do with the steppers?

will have a look still have one laying around at home. you may have it if i find it.

Me and my friends built programmed vehicles with the floppy drive stepper motors a few years back ;)

I'm also interested to know what bitesize's use for it will be...

That's really interesting, as Pada says, one can use them for all sorts of things.

Good luck with the project, and be sure to come and post some links to your output once you have it flying.

I'll check at home tonight. I am sure I have one lying around unless I turfed it when I cleaned out the garage over xmas. It is even a 1.2 Mb, not a 360Kb one :D

thanks everyone, it's a new thing for me to try, so if I don't burn my eyebrows off I'll let you know how it goes :-).

still looking, so let me know if you have one or two or three. thanks!

Still looking? I saw the other thread. Where are you situated? PM me I may be able to help. Why that specific stepper motor, what are the specs of the motor you need, what do you need it for?

Ok, so some questions already were answered here, Now looking at the project links I think you just lost out on the opportunity, I will use them myself now.

Just joking. I should be able to help, Just let me know where you are.

lol, i'd encourage you to give it a try :-). i'm based in jhb. i've also contacted a few people who run an antique computer shop. but i'm always on the lookout.

floppy drives or disks? don't want the disks only the drives.

Do you still need the floppy disk drives? I have one lying around which I'm not using. It needs a new home.

I also have one that came with a case I bought a couple of years back, hasn't been used once lol.. But I doubt you're still looking for it. Just thought I'd throw it out here.
