Except it didn't work properly on Linux. Good ideas are useless unless you execute them equally well.

Probably compiled from the wrong source code. Update your mirror list, then change your gfx card and create more partitions.

EDIT: This thread needs to be moved to the hardware/software section.
 
except that NONE of the mentioned ideas originated as part of Linux
multiple workstations goes back in XWindows to the earliest installations of *nix structures and the one platform OS approach was possibly first postulated by Paul Allen in the late 70s
 
If we're gonna get pedantic then yes you are correct seeing as "Linux" is only a kernel.

it isn't about being pedantic at all
a couple of years ago there was a horrible propensity to equate all that was hip and what not with Linux (at the expense of proper FOSS development) that has petered off a bit - this article reminds us of what Linux fanbooi-ism can do

An article on how mainstream OS development depends on hobbyist OSes and alternatives is a poignant discussion to have
