5 insane space projects which just might work

Space exploration has captured the imagination of many engineers and scientists, with many dreaming up wild ideas to extend humanity’s reach beyond Earth.

While some of these ideas are straight out of science fiction, certain ones stand a decent chance of working.

eg2505 must be devastated that asteroid mining didn't make the list.

Space Elevator, iirc, is one of the Wonders that can be built in Civ IV.

How can we go to Mars when a NASA Astronaut said recently "I would love to go to the moon in a nano second, but we have lost the Technology to do so and its a painful process to get it back again."
And then later they talk about a VAN ALLEN Belt which surrounds the earth which have Extremely High Levels of Radiation. which also does make it almost impossible to go through, and when you look at the moon missions, it seems that the craft was built by Foil, aluminium and duck tape.

This my dear people is what NASA said in all their official vids. look it up on Google and Youtube. Explain that to us MR NASA.

They all lying to us. There was never ever moon missions because the simple fact is..... You will find the answers on YOUTUBE and Google.

During the Apollo years NASA's budget was almost five percent of the federal budget. Now, it's less than one percent.

...
During the 1960s, many Americans felt the expense of Apollo was justified because of its importance to national security during the cold war. Today, some people question whether human space exploration is as valuable.

"There are not compelling publicly-held reasons for doing this," Launius said. "Without a rationale that everybody understands and can buy into, it's a very hard sell to get the resources to do it."

They're trying by 2020 though. Also, they want a prolonged, months long trip, not just a walk around one.

The description of SpinLaunch is not correct.

SpinLaunch spins up a huge flywheel and uses that stored energy to launch the item. The item itself is not spinned...

How is a space elevator going to keep upright? 96560,64km, wonder how many tons it would weigh? And at that lenght, if they want to use anchor cables, how long will that be? I don't see a space elevator being viable, other than in video games.

Actually it's more a problem of keeping the space elevator down than up...

Take a ball and tie a string to it.
Take the other end of the string and start swinging.
How much force are you using to keep it upright? (See where I'm going with this? :D )
I'm no expert and I may be completely wrong -probably, because "weightless in space" and many other things I know nothing about- but keeping the string from snapping would be the main issue, in my uneducated mind.

Yeah, this is what makes sense to me as well.
(Again...not an expert, so if anyone knowledgeable on this type of stuff can educate me, please do. :) )

The stuff we have been taught in school and on tv about space, planets, stars and moons are lies. I used to believe what you believed, but my eyes have been opened up wide.

We all have been lied to.
