MITCHELLS PLAIN - Cape Town police are investigating a shooting in Rocklands, Mitchells Plain, in which five people have been killed.
The incident took place on Tuesday night.
According to police, a group of people entered a house apparently being used as a bakery, demanded the safe and opened fire on six occupants.
Four people died on scene, while one died in hospital later. A sixth person is in a critical condition in hospital.
Police have since arrested a 28-year-old man, recovered a firearm and the safe.
‘DEATHS COULD BE RELATED TO BUSINESS’
Meanwhile, relatives of the shooting victims have described the attack as senseless.
Family of the deceased are shattered and some were seen comforting each other outside the house where the shooting happened.
A pool of dry blood marks the scene where one man was gunned down.
Rukshana Hussein was inside the house when the gunmen came inside the house.
“He asked Baker what is your name? Baker kept quiet, then he asked again and Baker answered him then he shot him twice,” Hussein recounted events.
Relatives believe the murders could be business-related.
