5 ways the new SA car industry code could affect you

I'm just saying, the advertised price should be the advertised price with all costs, but not with any possible discounts applied automatically.
Licence fees are not potential "discounts", they are costs, and quite a few dealerships will have you know they are not optional.

Not what I was on about though, I'm not talking about some line item that is negotiable (again note, license fees are less negotiable than you might think). I'm talking about the things that are a given / non-negotiable that are not reflected in the price. "Trade-in assistance" is the prime example for me, if you dropped your price, then f-ing drop it, don't pretend it has stayed the same even though anyone who walks in the door will get a fixed amount discount on that price without ever asking for it.

That's bullshyte wordplay designed to keep the base price artificially high, adjust the price downwards to reflect the reality then. Have you ever seen a new car price of any brand drop in South Africa? I'm betting no, because it doesn't happen, and this is why.

Still shoudln't be the price they put up on the display thing. "Trade-in assistance" won't mean anything for people with no trade in. They should display the max price for everything included.
