I need to connect 5 HD TV with 1 HD decoder and extra view all with HD feed if possible.
Got quoted R6000.

Ant tips DIY to do this?

Well i only want to do 3, but also interested.
Do you need special cabling from the dish or is the standard sufficient for HD?

Where does Xtraview come into this, you want each TV to receive HD from a HDPVR & SD from another decoder?
Feed HDPVR into something like this (1x8 HDMI splitter R1700) http://www.hdcabling.co.za/powered-hdmi-splitter-1x8-8-outputs-hdcp-12-hdmi-v13-p-101.html
Then HDMI cables from that to each TV, you might need to go the ethernet route of the TVs are further then 15 or 20m from the splitter

Are you looking to replicate the output from the single HDPVR across 5 HDTVs, or are you looking to give each HDTV independent channel capability ?
XtraView only allows two viewing environments if using an HDPVR + normal DSTV decoder. If you're only looking to replicate, then the suggestions to merely use a HDMI splitter are spot on.

Let me try again...
1 x HD PVR
1 x Extra View decoder
5 x HD TV

All 5 TVs need to receive both HD decoder channel and Extra view channel, ie: AV1 - Extra view, HDMI 1 HD, but the HD Channel should have HD feed (HDMI) cable.
Hope that makes sense.

So just to clarify, you want to use a single decoder but have the individual TV's capable of changing between two different channels?
Man, even for R6000, I'm not sure that's possible.

Its working like this atm.
3 TVs can watch either the channel on the Extra view decoder or the HD decoder. I would like the other 4 TVs to also watch the HD channel in HD.

Sorry, that was a dumbass moment. I didn't realise there was an extraview decoder in the mix. R6000 is a little pricey. Pitbull is right. All you need is an HDMI splitter and 5 HDMI cables.

So all the TV's can only view the same two channels ?

You need the HDMI splitter and then you need to take the aerial out from the extra view and split that to all the TV's as well.

Yip something like that!!
Need +/- 25m HD cables, HD Splitter, 25m SAT cable and another splitter...
The prices i found so far, R1700 for the HD splitter, R1300 for the HD cables and not sure whats the cost of the other splitter and cables...

It seems I rather pay R6000 and let the pro do it than pay R5000 and do it myself :(
Am I over reacting?

The areal splitting over 25 meters is going to give you a lot of signal loss. On a big TV that is going to look bad. I think when the dude quoted he must have included an RCA splitter instead of and aerial splitter.

There is not much to mess up though.... im sure you could do it DIY and do it much cheaper.

25m HDMI cables? EACH or overall? If it's each, you're going to need a signal amplifier or repeater as well.

if its your house and you are not moving...ever....get it done (if equipment costs R5k, then R1k labour is not bad)......nothing as horrible as a DIY to get things working and then left in that (bare all) state for the next....uhmm.....20 years or so.....

The equipment shouldn't set you back more than R3.5 - R4k so it is a rather substantial saving.
But like tg said, if you're going to have to look at it for the next 20 years and you can afford it, R2k extra for a neat, professional job isn't bad at all.
