50% off at EA until 7 pm 22 September

Thanks for the heads up.. Just used it to buy "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" for R150.
Don't really like Origin but can live with it for the occasional deal..

After the recent price increases where all new games and preorders jumped to R999.95, EA will never see a cent from me again.

FIFA 17 is R1000. And it can't be discounted.

No thanks.

Yeah. I pretty much abandoned my origin account. I'll just install it at some stage to finish mass effect 3 and probably dead space 3 replay.
Not too long ago EA sold AAA physical copies in retail stores for R350 up to R500. Looking at what you get most of the times in AAA games the price is just not worth it.

I'm guessing they are trying to compensate for pirates as i can't think digital is more expensive to publish and distribute than physical.

Same here. I'll just play FIFA 16 once in a while now.

How do people still buy their games at these prices - or enough people anyway?

It is critical that SA gamers not support the Origin store after the price increases. EA don't care about customer complaints and they never engage on issues relating to distribution and pricing. The only way someone at EA will take notice and consider reverting to the previous pricing is if sales drop like a stone.

I think a contributing factor was all the US gamers using SA proxies to buy their games on our SA store for around $40. But it's ridiculous to punish us for their behaviour. Steam ties SA purchases to SA accounts, and there's nothing stopping Origin from being more savvy about regional pricing.

Console gamers have been shooting themselves in the feet by buying console games for R1k and over for ages now. They really shouldn't have supported such insane prices.

Exactly. The proxies are their problem, not ours. We don't see Steam hike Brazilian and Russian prices, and they are vulnerable to this too.

Even if I wanted to support them, I'm unable to afford their games now. I hope they die a fast death in SA.

I wonder if I should get dragon age with this...
anyone recommend?

Much better deal is getting Origin Access. Even if it takes you two months to complete Dragon Age it's only R100 plus you get access to tons of other games.

So glad I didn't buy this. It got cracked last week. :D

Yeah I fully expect it to, but I do want to at least give it a try if only to see how much EA mucked up the formula. I loved the original game.

I liked it, mostly.. Just ignore all the optional stuff and play the main story. Had a few moments that made me nearly break my keyboard but then so did the first game so..

They should definitely have left weapons in it, having to use just punches and kicks to take down guards gets old, specially when there's a million of them.
