It is critical that SA gamers not support the Origin store after the price increases. EA don't care about customer complaints and they never engage on issues relating to distribution and pricing. The only way someone at EA will take notice and consider reverting to the previous pricing is if sales drop like a stone.
I think a contributing factor was all the US gamers using SA proxies to buy their games on our SA store for around $40. But it's ridiculous to punish us for their behaviour. Steam ties SA purchases to SA accounts, and there's nothing stopping Origin from being more savvy about regional pricing.
Console gamers have been shooting themselves in the feet by buying console games for R1k and over for ages now. They really shouldn't have supported such insane prices.
