Hey there,

A few websites give me a lot of 500 server errors like this:

Error is a 500 server error:

Server Error
The following error occurred:

Code:
The server closed the connection while reading the response. Contact your system administrator.
Please contact the administrator.

It seems as if this has to do with the connection in South Africa, as when I get friends outside of the country, and even the provider of the website to test it works just fine.

Does anyone know why this is the case? and is there anyway around it?

We connest through Axxess.

Many thanks.

Post the links if possible, let me give them a shot from here ;)

One more thing, are you using the Semi Shaped packages from Axxess or not? I ask because the Semi Shaped accounts will be on running on IS and the others will be on SAIX...

hi,

thanks for the help.

we have a shaped adsl account through axxess...

one of the sites that give us constant hassles is:

www.zoneedit.com

I have confirmed from another user connecting through axxess the same problem...so I think it has something to do with axxess connection...not sure what it could be tho?

That is strange.

I tried the given address on the following two accounts, both of which worked:
* Skyway 2GB/28GB IS Account
* WebAfrica Shaped SAIX Prepaid account

thanks - if i refresh the page a few times eventually it will come right for a bit and then the error will come back...very strange...comes and goes...

if you refresh a few times does it always work?

Have had the same issue with our school's website which is located in the USA. I have mailed the technical guy in the UK, asking him if there's any issues. He's just forwarded it to their service desk.

Hope it's not just adsl in the country.

Ja on my IS account I can refresh several times and it works every time...

Perhaps you should try a SAIX proxy, hang on while I find a few ;)

EDIT: Found one, try 196.25.253.13 on port 8080 and see if it sorts it out...

Have the same problem. But I disconnected and it worked. I have to say i think its a transparrent proxy problem with SAIX

I have the same problem, this has been happening ever since telkom had that problem a few days ago when nobody in CT could connect.

Ever since then none of their proxies work on any of my machines and I'm forced to connect direct, and as you've found out it does not always work.

What makes me mad is that it seems the proxies eg 196.25.253.13 and others seem to be working for some people but not others.
