Hi all ...

Any recommendations or good deals available for a new 50 inch plasma ?

The Samsung P50B650 does pretty well. I would go for the Panasonic V series (one of the better at the moment since Pioneer doesnt produce the Kuro anymore) but it retails for 29k. The Samsung is next in line and is about 19k.

Hope it helps

Thanks for the feedback ... am in CPT and looking at sub R20k

Check out Tafelberg in Bellville (the one on Durban road, just off the N1), they have great service and will beat any price (I got my 50" Sony Bravia reduced from R25k to R18k). Ask for Graeme, very knowledgeable guy.

I bought a PS50B650 a few months ago for 21.5 K and it is great. Absolutely love it.

I managed to get the same tv for work on Monday for R 17 K from Kay Makan. Samsung have them in stock at the moment.

You can get a B550 for about 16K I think as well but for R17K, I would get the B650.

Any LG or Sammy will be great. I have a LG and am very happy with it. You can check out the LG 50PQ30. I got it at R13.5k about a year ago, its dropped down to R10k now. But If you can wait abit longer why not give it 6months or so and see if you can get a LED 47" or 50" LED - ? Hopefully the price will be around 20k, operative word being HOPEFULLY :)

Audio Vision say new range of Samsungs due out mid-May ... PS50C550 for R15k

Cats Digital in Joburg has released pricing and info for the value line 2010 Samsung plasma's:

42inch 42c450 for R7.5k
50 inch 50c450 for R10.9k

Good value for HD Ready plasma: if you are viewing more SD content than HD, it is a highly recommended set.

I'm sure Audiovision in CPT would have similar pricing, or if you can wait, step up to the 6500 or 700 series for full HD - for R20k

hie. sorry m new dont know were to put this. i saw a pvr decoder at this charity shop going for 120 rand and i want to buy it for resale. what should i be aware of. it works but is it the same as a sim card or it can move freely

buy it. the new owner will just phone Monochoice and they will lock the PVR to the new simcard. You should get at least R2.5k for it if its in good condition.

monochoice thats a good one. its pvr not hd they stopped making them sometime ago if i buy it can i still watch dstv
